Help STOP the spread of H1N1 in our community and CWS
If you have an appointment scheduled with a CWS therapist, and have symptoms of fever, cough, congestion, or sore throat, call Counseling and Wellness at 919.966.3658 and leave a message for your therapist with your contact information.

Your therapist will work with you to either re-schedule your appointment or possibly arrange to have your session by phone.

Thank you for your assistance in containing the spread of H1N1

Counseling and Wellness Services (CWS) is a Campus Health Services department in the Division of Student Affairs at UNC-Chapel Hill.

For all new and first time Counseling appointments at CWS, eligible individuals should walk in to our service between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  To make a Wellness appointment or to contact us for any other reason, call (919) 966-3658.

Regular Office Hours
CWS is open from 8:00am to 5:00am, Monday through Friday.

Our psychological/counseling services include individual, couples, and group therapy, urgent consultation and crisis intervention, and medication evaluation/management. Our wellness services provide education and health promotion programs in the areas of fitness and nutrition, alcohol and substance use, stress management, and sexual behavior.

If you are having a psychological crisis, we encourage you to call or come in right away and speak to a CWS therapist for same day crisis intervention.  If it is after hours, on a weekend, or university holiday, call 966-2281.

The CWS staff is comprised of licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and health educators as well as administrative support personnel.

We are committed to understanding and respecting all individuals.
CWS values people of every background having access to our services and being treated with respect and dignity.  We have an approach to mental heath that integrates physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and cultural dimensions of wellness.  We help students who are dealing with everyday problems related to college life, as well as students with more serious concerns.

Location
CWS is on the third floor of Campus Health Services in the James A. Taylor Building located between the UNC Hospitals and UNC's Kenan Football Stadium.

The material provided in this website is not meant to replace a face-to-face consultation with a trained counselor or therapist, nor does this service provide "online" counseling.
